Our doctoral student Imtiaz Qavi received the Best Student Paper Award from the Manufacturing & Design Division of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering (IISE). Each year, only one award will be given to recognize outstanding students' contributions to Manufacturing and Design. The award was presented during the M&D Townhall Meeting at the IISE Annual Conference. The paper titled "Machine-Learning Enhanced High-Fidelity and High-Viability Bioprinting using Rheological and Compositional Predictors" introduced a novel bioink optimization approach based on hyperparameter-tuned machine learning (ML) models. This approach enables the prediction of inter-relationships among the ingredients, rheological properties, and printability. Our findings underscore the efficacy of a data-driven experimental design coupled with ML methodologies in fabricating high-fidelity soft structures with high cell viability.
